Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were released in March 2003. Then in 2005 came Pokemon Emerald in May 2005. In Pokemon R/S you start out as a girl or boy. You live in Littleroot town. The first thing you do is set the clock. You visit Prof.Birch's lab for your first Pokemon, but he's not there. Then when you walk out go to the exit point and you see Prof.Birch being attacked by a wild Poochyena. He asks for you to help with using one of the three Pokemon in his bag. You can pick Treecko the grass Pokemon, Torchic the fire Pokemon, or Mudkip the water Pokemon. The Poochyena is only level 2. and your Pokemon is level 5. So you'll be able to beat it easily. After you fainted the Poochyena Prof.Birch will thank you and let you have the Pokemon you used to battle with. IN Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire you battle other trainers, earn eight badges, enter Pokemon contests, and battle the Elite Four! After you defeat the Elite Four you can battle trainers at the Battle Trainer! Here are the starting Pokemon for Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire:

Pokemon Emerald starts out the same, except for the fact your green, but it has more features. You can catch Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, Latias, and Latios. There's also the Battle Frontier. The Battle Frontier is like the Battle Tower excpt more better!
My Reviews
The graphics were very cool! It was better then the older Pokemon game's graphics.

The Pokemon in the game were the best part! Getting to see new types of Pokemon made me really excited about the game.

The sound is very good. It was better then the older Pokemon game's sound because sometimes they were a little bumpy.

Loved the Pokemon Contests. It's so cool seeing Pokemon's attacks dazzle and I was soo excited when I won my first ribbon with Swellow.

Overall Pokemon R/S/E is my favorite version! I give it a perfect 10!
